Arthur and the western Front
My Name is Kirsty Hjort and I'm very proud great grand daughter of Arthur after spending many years pouring over his service records and still doing further research.
short version:
I have some further information to add in records from with war diaries where he is mentioned and the cheeky lad was in trouble as noted in his service records, for being AWL twice and docked pay while in France. 1st time for 24 hours and the 2nd time for 4 days. he found Himself on the western front in the somme this was where he was wounded in the back and eventually sent back to Australia.
the shrapnel would remain in him and this would eventually kill him and lead to a heart attack in 1953.
