Son of John Vardon and Mary Vardon nee Wharton of Hindmarsh, SA.Father of Charles John Napier Vardon.

Brother of Arthur Edward Vardon who returned to Australia in 1919 having served with the 32nd Battalion.

Husband of Charlotte Vardon nee Dunn of Charlotte Street, Adelaide, SA. Frederick and Charlotte married on 14 Febraury 1906 in St Michael's Church, Mitcham, SA

Commenced return to Australia on 10 July 1916 aboard HT Clan MacGillivray disembarking on 14 August 1916 at Melbourne for onward travel to Adelaide
