18 Mar 1918: Honoured Military Cross, Third Ypres, For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty when acting as Forward Observation Officer for 'B' Artillery Group at Ypres on 20 September 1917, during an attack he established himself in a very forward position under heavy shell fire and kept his Group in touch with the situation throughout. The information sent back was most valuable and enabled the Group to deal with the situations as they arose.
