Died on this date – 6th January..... Thomas Henry Jackson was born at Oldham, Lancashire, England around 1864-1873. (year range due to the varying ages recorded when enlisting & age at time of death). He enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force (A.I.F.) on 28th January, 1916 as a 43 year old, single, Miner from Port Douglas, Queensland.

Private Thomas Henry Jackson embarked from Brisbane, Queensland on HMAT Star of Victoria (A16) on 30th March, 1916 with the 7th Infantry Brigade, 26th Infantry Battalion, 11th Reinforcements. He embarked from Alexandria on 8th May, 1916 to join B.E.F. (British expeditionary Force) & arrived at Marseilles, France on 18th May, 1916. Private Jackson joined 26th Battalion at the Front in France on 2nd August, 1916.

Private Jackson was sent sick to Hospital on 27th November, 1916. He was invalided to England on 8th December, 1916 on Hospital Ship Carisbrooke Castle suffering from Chronic Bronchitis & Debility. Private Jackson was admitted to Beaufort War Hospital, Bristol, England on 8th December, 1916. The Hospital Admissions form recorded that Private Jackson was suffering from Bronchitis & an Aortic aneurism.

Private Thomas Henry Jackson died at 7.45 pm on 6th January, 1917 at Beaufort War Hospital, Bristol, England from Internal Haemorrhage. He was buried in Arnos Vale Cemetery, Bristol, Gloucestershire, England. His name is remembered on the CWGC Screen Wall & he has a flat Memorial Stone.

Arnos Vale Cemetery, Bristol contains a total of 22 Australian WW1 War Graves.
