Son of James SLEEP, Mackay, Qld.
A returned soldier named George Henry Sleep, 26 yours of age, No. 3890, 31st Battalion, who had 4 years and 2 days service and was on his way home to his people at North Side, Mackay, expired suddenly on Monday evening at the home of Mr Heater, Dalrymple Street, whose place he was visiting.
Deceased who arrived by the overland route, on the 26th ultimo, was waiting for a steamer to take him to Mackay. He had been badly gassed which probably was the cause of his death. He was given a military funeral, 20 returned men being in attendance the filing party being in charge of Sergeant-Major English.
