Station hand at Campo Santo Station (Barraba) at time of enlistment
"Mrs. Simshauser, of Barraba, received a cable on Tuesday that her eldest son, Wilfred, had been killed in action on Good Friday. Mrs. Simshauser's only other son, Fred, is still at the front fighting. Pte. Simshauser's cousin, Pte. Alby Rose, was killed some months ago in France." - from the Tamworth Daily Observer 23 Apr 1918 (nla.gov.au)
