Add my storyBiography contributed by Grace Carter
Alfred was the son of Thomas Alfred Carter & Eliza Mary Ann (Martha) Wiseman. He had 3 brothers and 2 sisters and grew up in Ascot Vale, Richmond and Brusnwick. He was put in prison several times in his late teens and early twenties, and after robbing a house in 1916, was forced to sign up to fight in the war or face going to prison.
Alfie chose to go and fight, and died of gunshot wounds at the 3rd Australian Casualty Clearing Station in Bullecourt, France. He was greatly mourned by his mother, father, brothers and sisters, and especially by his brother, George.
