Walter George Reynolds (1892–1955)
Walter George Reynolds was born on 19 April 1892 at Norwood, South Australia, the youngest son of William Reynolds (1853–1930) and Elizabeth Darby (1865–1953). He grew up in a large and well-established family in Adelaide's eastern suburbs, part of a household that reflected the steady working-class life of the late 19th century.
Walter was one of six children, raised alongside his siblings in Norwood, where his father worked as an engine driver. The family home environment was stable and enduring, with all children born within the same district over an eight-year period.
Family Background
Walter's siblings included:
William Ernest Reynolds (1884–1956)
Edith Annie Reynolds (1885–1971), later Melvin
Norman Lewis Reynolds (1887–1955)
Arthur Strangways Reynolds (1888–1969)
Mary Elizabeth Reynolds (1890–1930), later Cranwell
He was the youngest of the family, born into a household already well established in Norwood.
Later Life
Walter remained in South Australia throughout his life and, in later years, resided at Edwardstown, a southern suburb of Adelaide.
Unlike many of his siblings, Walter never married, and his death record confirms his status as single. His life appears to have been a quiet one, spent within the same broader Adelaide community in which he was born.
