Prior to enlisting he had been fined 5/- for playing football in the streets
Son of Thomas Quinlan and Johannah Quinlan nee Dark of Cardigan Street, Carlton, Victoria. Brother of Lawrence Charles Quinlan who returned to Australia on 11 October 1918 having served with the 11th Field Artillery Brigade.
