Thomas was born in Townsville on 31 Oct 1888, son of Edward Bradshaw and Elizabeth Hewitt.

He married Janet Veitch on 11 Jan 1911.

Private Bradshaw enlisted in Townsville on 22 Nov 1915, and embarked from Sydney per HMAT A16 “Star of Victoria” on 31 Mar 1916.

He served in Egypt and on the Western Front with the 15th Battalion AIF and 47th Battalion. 

He was  captured in  the Battle of Passchendaele, Belgium on 13 Oct 1917, and interned as a POW in Limburg, Germany for 2 years. He returned to Australia on 2 Mar 1919, and discharged 13 Jun 1919.

He died in Townsville on 7 Sep 1969 aged 80, and is buried in the Belgian Gardens Cemetery.  He was a locomotive engine driver.
