Eric Edmund Cumming


Eric Edmund Cumming was born at Colo River N.S.W and lived at Quakers Hill before he enlisted .

His father's name was George Edmund Cumming and his mother's name was Amy Rachel Cumming. There is no known record stating he has any brothers or sisters .

Eric Cumming enlisted at Sydney Showgrounds on the the 28th of April. He was 19 years old when he joined the army. He embarked from Sydney on the SS Port Nicholson on the 8th of November,1916 and served on the Western Front.

Before he enlisted he was a bank clerk .

Eric Cummings served with the First Battalion on the Western Front.


Eric Cummings was killed in the action by machine gun fire in an attack on German positions on Broodseinde Ridge in Belgium between 2nd and 5th of October 1917.

Eric Cumming was the son of the Quakers Hill Public School headmaster ,George Edmund Cumming.

He is remembered on the Blacktown Soldier's Memorial and on the Quakers Hill Honour Roll .
