Son of Thomas Henry Pinder and Maria Bridget Pinder nee Gould of Retreat Road, Bendigo, Victoria. Brother of Ethel Lavinia Pinder, Gertrude Amy Pinder, Claud Jonathon Pinder, Joseph Francis Pinder who returned to Australia on 9 March 1919 having served with the 8th Battalion, Valentine Pinder, Francis Benjamin Pinder, Jonathon Pinder, Lavinia Olive Pinder, Nellie May Pinder and Stephen Henry Pinder

Pte Pinder was killed in action at the Gallipoli landing (second wave) and his body was originally buried in an isolated grave near the bottom of Victoria Gully.

He was re-interred in the Brown's Dip Cemetery in 1921 before finally being laid to rest in the Lone Pine Cemetery in 1923.

Thomas Wesley Pinder was born in Bendigo , the son of Thomas Henry & Bridget Maria Pinder, of Bendigo.    Thomas was a Baker/Pastry cook, employed by Mr. Chas. H. Leggo, Caterer.   He had no previous military experience and was aged 27 years & 5 months when he Enlisted for Service on 19/8/14.   He arrived at Broadmeadows Camp on 21/8/14 and was allotted Service no. 831 and appointed to ‘G’ Company, 7th Battalion.   

The 7th Battalion left Broadmeadows Camp on 18 October, 1914, and embarked for service overseas on board HMAT ‘Hororata’.   Arriving in Egypt the battalion moved into camp at Mena, at the foot of the pyramids.   (6/12/14)     

In January, 1915, the Australian force was re-organized.   In the 7th Battalion ‘G’ and ‘H’ Companies joined to form the new ‘D’ Company.      This meant that all the men from Northern Victoria were together in one Company.   

The 7th Battalion was part of the force which landed at Anzac Cove on 25th April, 1915.

Thomas Wesley Pinder was KIA during the Landing, 25/4/15 – 2/5/1915.   He was Buried in an isolated grave near the bottom of Victoria Gully, about 1000 yards SE of Anzac Cove.    His body was re-interred in the Browns Dip Cemetery (1921) and again re-interred in the Lone Pine Cemetery (1923)
