Son of George Charles Urquhart and Rhoda Urquhart nee Smith of Grace Street, Malvern, Victoria
8 September 1916 - enlisted at Melbourne, Victoria, with the 2nd Machine Gun Company and with the rank of Private
13 February 1917 - transferred to the 4th Machine Gun Company
26 April 1917 - transferred to the 8th Machine Gun Company
12 October 1917 - wounded in action. Wound to the right thigh. Embarked for England on 19 October 1917 aboard HS Princess Elizabeth
30 April 1918 - transferred to the 3rd Machine Gun Battalion
26 May 1918 - wounded in action for the second time. Gassed
14 January 1919 - transferred to the Australian Postal Corps
13 July 1919 - commenced return to Australia aboard HT Persic disembarking on 2 September 1919 at Sydney

17 October 1919 - discharged at the 2nd Military District
During 1922c Gordon married Beatrice May Plowman in Victoria

Brother of John William Urquhart who died on 13 October 1917 of wounds received at Passchendaele while serving with the 46th Battalion. John is buried in the Etaples Military Cemetery, Plot XXX, Row C, Grave 17A
