Pte 2793 Hector Ross was admitted to No 2 General Hospital at Ghezierh (Cairo) on 26 January 1916 suffering from bronchial pneumonia, from which he died four days later on 30 January 1916.

Commemorated on Raywood State School No 1844 Honor Roll ('Humanity called, the response was great'), Raywood Hall, Victoria.

Brother: 474 Pte Richard Colo ROSS, 3rd Machine Gun Bn, killed in action, 7 June 1917.
