12 Aug 1915: Wounded AIF WW1, Private, 399, Alfred sustained a gunshot wound to his left hand, was admitted to No 1 Australian General Hospital on 12 August 1915, which resulted in amputation of fingers.
19 Apr 1916: Discharged AIF WW1, Private, 399, Discharged on medical grounds

After arriving home he resided in Dumbleyung and worked as a labourer.

Alfred received a pension of 40/- per fortnight from 18 January 1917.  He was living at 36 Wesley Street, North Perth, Western Australia at the time.

Alfred and Evelyn Euphrasia Brown were married in 1919 in Swan, Western Australia.  They had two children during their marriage. 

In 1920 they were living in a War Service home at 29 Regent Street, Leederville, Western Australia where they remained until they passed away.
