George Edward King was born during 1891 in Sydney and attended St John's Parochial School in Darlinghurst NSW. His parents were Leonard and Isabella King of Sydney NSW. George was an original member of the 19th Battalion and fought at Gallipoli from mid August 1915. His younger brother 1361 Robert King 17th Battalion AIF died of wounds from the fighting at Pozieres.
