Son of Matthew Silas Venn and Matilda Venn nee Harding of Rhyndaston, Tasmania.
Brother of George James Venn who returned to Australia 29 August 1919 having served with the 2nd Pioneer Battalion; Matthew Sylias Venn who was killed in action 15 December 1917 and is buried in the Lindenhoek Chalet Military Cemetery. Plot II, Row I, Grave 3; Mark Reuben who returned to Australia on 9 January 1920 ving served with the 1st Divisional Train
