Lance Corporal George William Miller (Service No:2725) enlisted in the AIF as a Private on 19 June 1916. He was attached to 46 Infantry Battalion when he embarked from Melbourne on 20 October 1916 on board HMAT Port Lincoln A17 (Sibling Leslie Gordon Miller (Service No:2726) also embarked with 46th Battalion on the same date). Promoted to Lance Corporal on 9 October 1917, Lance Corporal Miller served in France where he was WiA on two occasions - Gassed in October 1917, and GSW to the thigh in July 1918. Lance Corporal Miller embarked for the RTA on 8 January 1919 on board HT Orsova, and was Discharged in April 1919.

Born in 1894 in Colac Victoria, George was the eldest of four children of George Miller Snr (b1841 in Norfolk, England) and second wife Esther Bowyer (b1860 in Carisbrook, Victoria). George Snr (a Labourer) and Esther married in 1893 in Woodford, Victoria and settled at Colac where George Snr was a Labourer.

George was a Driver in Colac when he enlisted in the AIF, and following his Discharge returned to Colac where he was working as a Labourer in 1923 when he married Lillian Margaret Handley (b1901 in Ballarat, Victoria). George and Lillian settled at Colac where George worked as a Labourer and Carpenter - George remained in Colac following Lillian's death in 1934. George died in 1981.
