Driver Thomas George Jones (Service No:3120) enlisted in the AIF on 31 May 1916 and was attached to 72 Depot and 6 Depot Squadron as a Private/Trooper. On 13 February 1917 Private Jones was attached to 10th Light horse Regiment when he embarked from Fremantle WA on board HMAT A6 Clan McCorquodale bound for Suez. Private Jones served briefly with 3rd Light Horse Regiment and on 26 August 1918 was appointed Driver with 10th Light Horse Regiment. He embarked from Port Said for the RTA on 6 April 1919 on board the City of Poona and was Discharged on 14 June 1919. Brother Harry (Trooper 3119) also served with 10th Light Horse Regiment at Suez and later England.
Born in 1891 at Walkaway nr Geraldton WA, Tom was the second of five children (sons) of Thomas Edward Jones (b1857 in Greenough, WA) and Mary (Gussie) Augusta McCoo (b1870 in Greenough, WA). Thomas was Publican at the Gullewa Hotel when he and Gussie married in 1888. Following Thomas' death in 1897, Gussie was Publican of the hotel and remarried in 1904 at Yalgoo to Emmett Michael Hill (b1869 at Spring Creek, Victoria). Following Emmett's death in 1918, Gussie was Publican at Pindar WA.
Tom, a Selector/Farmer at Pindar when he enlisted in the AIF, returned to Pindar following his Discharge and in 1922 in Geraldton WA married Elizabeth Matilda Eakins (b1902 in Greenough, WA). Tom and Elizabeth settled at Pindar where they raised their family and Tom was a Selector/Farmer. Tom died in 1950 and Elizabeth later relocated to Perth where she died in 1992.
