KILLED IN ACTION.
CORPL. ARTHUR BRIERLEY.
Word has been received in Lithgow, by a personal friend, that Corpl. Arthur Brierley, a Lithgow lad, was killed in action in France, late in September. The deceased soldier originally enlisted in Brisbane at the outbreak of war, and was at the Gallipoli landing. Later he was incapacitated by shell concussion, and returned to Australia and obtained work at the small arms factory. After 12 months so employed, he re-enlisted and sailed for England in November, 1916. Corpl. Brierley, who was just 22, had no relatives in this country, his parents residing in Bolton, England. He was a very popular young man, while residing in Lithgow, and many friends will regret to hear of his death.
