Son of William James Oakey and Clara Augusta Oakey nee Bland of Cambridge, England.

Address at the time of enlistment was given as Goomalling, Wongan Hills, WA. Previously applied to enlist in July 1916 but it was deferred to October 1916 due to dental requirements.

Next of kin given as his sister Ida Oakey of Beechwood, Fulbourne, Cambridge.

Commenced return to Australia on 21 June 1919 aboard HT Konigin Luise disembarking on 2 August 1919
