My Great Uncle Alphonsus Patrick Keogh
Today I remember my uncle who served in WW1 & WW11. I remember him fondly when he lived in the nursing home at Nazareth house in Turramurra, NSW during the 1960's. He never married. I knew he had been stationed overseas during WW1. He was in London & during leave he had visited Ireland- he travelled all day to find some relatives but only had time to say g'day before he had to catch the return train. This is a family story and we are still searching for the village and family.
I am proud of my uncle for serving our country during times of war. He contributed to the freedom we enjoy today.
I hope he is resting in peace with his mates.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn,
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.
Your great niece Anne
