Born the 22 October 1890, Herbert Angus McPherson served in both the 12th Battalion and the 52nd Battalion. Born and raised in Hobart, Tasmania, Hebert McPherson joined the AIFb at 24.

Herbert Angus McPherson enlisted in Hobart, Tasmania on the 28/8/1914 as a lieutenant in the 12th Infantry Battalion AIF. He had prior experience in the Light Horse 1908-1912 and was promoted to second Lietenunt in 1910 in the 91st infantry.
He was promoted to Captain on the 26/5/1915 into the 52nd Infantry Battalion
He was again promoted to Major and back with the 12th Infantry Battalion on 7/7/1917.
Major McPherson was wounded on Gallipoli in May 1915 and in France in 22/9/1917 (Ypres, Battle Menin Rd, GSW right arm and deafness left ear).
He departed Europe for Australia on the 3/12/1918 and tragically committed sucide on the 24/12/1918. "Died at sea - revolver wound, self inflicted whilst temporarily insane." He was buried at sea.
