FOREVER WITH THE LORD

September 1916 - Mrs. C. Murchison, Nagel Street, received a wire from the Base Records Melbourne, advising that her son, Sergeant Ninian Murchison has been wounded.  Sergeant Murchison was one of the Kanowna men and enlisted immediately on his return from the luckless Pacific expedition.  He also saw a good deal of service on Gallipoli before going to France.

October 1917 - Mrs. Murchison, Nagle Street, has been further advised that her son Second-Lieut. Ninian Murchison, had been admitted to the Duchess of Westminster Hospital on September 27th, suffering from a severe gunshot wound in the right leg.

April 1918 - His Worship the Mayor (Alderman W. T. Mitchell received advice on Friday (says the 'Northern Miner') that Lieut. Ninian Murchison was killed In action on April 1. In  company with the Rev. Father O'Keefe his Worship conveyed the sad news to the deceased soldier's mother, Mrs Murchison of Nagle-street.

MURCHISON.—In loving memory of my dear son and our brother, Lieutenant Ninian Murchison, 49th Battalion, killed in action on the 1stt April, 1918.
The war is really over !
To some those words sound nice.
But, oh, the sad hearts of those
Whose loved one paid the price.
Far and oft my thoughts do wander
To a grave so far away,
Where they laid our darling Ninian
Just three years to-day.
R.I.P.
