Biography contributed by Stephen Brooks

Robert was the son of Thomas Henry and Ann Jane Savage, of Ramsay, Cambooya, Queensland. He was almost 40 years of age when he was reported missing during the heavy fighting at Mouquet Farm on 3 September 1916.

His remains were discovered in 1926, and his identity disc was returned to his mother in Queensland during 1927. She was 74 years of age at the time, but much comforted by the news that her son had finally received a decent burial.
