Son of George Edward Urquhart and Elizabeth Urquhart of New Street, Armadale, Victoria.
Between 1905 and 1908 David servec with a Scottish Regiment
3 January 1916 - enlisted at Melbourne, Victoria, with the 14th Battalion and with the rank of Private.
29 November 1917 - wounded in action. Head wound
9 January 1918 - transferred to the 1st Divisional Train
12 June 1919 - commenced return to Australia aboard HT Port Darwin disembarking on 27 July 1919
Medals: British War Medal, Victory Medal
18 September 1919 - discharged at the 3rd Military District
During 1920c David married Hilda Elsie Mallinson in Victoria
