NEARER MY GOD TO THEE
Mr. Thos. Richardson, Woolsthorpe, received the sad intelligence on Monday that his son, Pte. W. H. (Bill) Richardson, had been killed in action on 2nd September. The deceased soldier enlisted in October, 1916, and sailed in December of that year, and after a few months’ training in England, was drafted to France. He was wounded in the shoulder some time ago, but was soon back in action. Prior to enlisting he was employed at the local general store and, by his courteous and obliging nature, endeared himself to all who came in contact with him. He was just 23 years of age. Deepest sympathy is extended to his parents, brothers and sisters, in their great sorrow.
