Son of Luke Queenan and Mary A.J. Queenan formerly of Balranald, NSW and Deniliquin, NSW. Brother of Henry Thomas Queenan who returned to Australia on 29 February 1920 having served with the Australia Army Medical Corps.

Commenced return to Australia on 8 September 1919 aboard HT Raranga disembarking on 20 October 1919.
