His older brother was Stanley Robert McDougall V.C., M.M. of the 47th Battalion AIF. They were the sons of John and Annie Mcdougall of Ramsgate, Recherche, Tasmania. The town of Ramsgate does not exist today, it is known as Cockle Creek but has no shops or other facilities. It is the southernmost point of Australia. Their father passed away in 1910 and their widowed mother Annie died in 1919. Wallace’s medals were sent to his brother, Stanley McDougall VC.
