James Caldwell SHIERLAW was born in Botany, Sydney on 11th December, 1888

His parents were William SHIERLAW & Mary MALONE who married in Sydney in 1886

He enlisted in Goulburn on 2nd November, 1916 & embarked from Sydney with the 13th Infantry Battalion, 23rd reinforcement on the HMAT Beltana on 25th November, 1916

James died of wounds in France on 5th July, 1917 and is buried in the Trois Arbres Cemetery - his name is memorialised on the Austrralian War Memorial
