Son of George Henry  and Mary Smith of 'Victoria Farm', Ayr, QLD. Brother of William Charles Smith who returned to Australia on 23 June 1919 having served with the 31st Battalion. Recommended for Military Medal but was not awarded

Medals: 1914-15 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal

He was always interested in the Military. He was an excellent rifle shot winning many medals and sach prizes
