Biography contributed by Faithe Jones

Son of Frederick S McNaughton, Shepparton, Victoria

The mournful news was conveyed to Mr and Mrs F. S. B McNaughton, Shepparton, that their eldest son, Private Frederick Robert McNaughton, was killed in action in France on May 4. The deceased soldier, who was 23 years of age last January, was a fine type of young man and very popular. He was born  at Euroa; educated at Hasset's College, Melbourne, and joined the  staff of the Bank of Victoria at Shepparton. He was subsequently transferred to  different branches - Leongatha, Tallygaroopna, and Kerang, and after being accountant was made relieving manager. Private McNaughton at one time attended the Nathalia State School and was a grand-son of Mrs Muntz, sen., Nathalia. Much sympathy is expressed for the bereaved relatives.
