Simon Sydney Brodie.

Simon Brodie
Private, No. 1158, 9th Battalion. Born at Sydney, and educated at the Boys Central Grammar School. Son of the late James and Margaret Brodie. Prior to enlisting was employed in Wilcocks Store, Rockhampton. Enlisted at Rockhampton, January, 1916, and went into Enoggera Camp. Was attached to the 42nd Battalion, but was later transferred to the 9th Battalion. Sailed for England March, 1916, and arrived there in July, 1916. Completed his training at Salisbury Plain, and was despatched to France in November, 1916. Was through the battles of Messines, Bullecourt, Polygon Woods, Passchendaele, Armentieres, and Baupaume, and right through the 1918 offensive, and was never wounded, but was out of the trenches, suffering from trench feet.
