105 years ago today, on the 10th November 1917, Lance Corporal Frederick Christensen, 3rd Battalion (Lewis Machine Gun Section, Reg No-4439), butcher (Mr. A. J. Sutton, Stockton, N.S.W.), from Stockton Street, Stockton, New South Wales, was Killed in Action at Passchendaele Ridge, Belgium, 2nd Battle of Passchendaele, Passchendaele Campaign, age 28.

Born at Carrington, New South Wales on the 23rd August 1889 as CHRISTISON to Frederick (died 2.7.1901, age 46) of Victoria Street, Carrington, New South Wales and Margaret Christensen nee Williams (died 17.9.1942, age 79, name not inscribed on headstone plaque) of Fullerton Street, Stockton, New South Wales, Fred enlisted August 1915 at Newcastle, N.S.W.

Admitted 1st Australian Field Ambulance and hospital 31.7.1917 (neuritis of legs - this is nerve damage that irritates either all or several of your peripheral nerves, may have a nerve damaged in both your leg(s) or feet, leading to neuropathy in legs or elsewhere.

Fred’s name has been inscribed on The Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial (Panel 7), Belgium.

Mr. Christensen’s name has also been inscribed on the Stockton Soldiers' Memorial (photos, unveiled on the 25th April 1922, 272 names inscribed, 65 Fallen, located at the corner of Mitchell and Hereford Streets, Stockton Beach, N.S.W.), Book of Gold, Stockton St. Paul's Anglican Church Honour Roll, Stockton Goose Club Roll of Honour Board – whereabouts unknown, and The Capt. Clarence Smith Jeffries (V.C.) and Pte. William Matthew Currey (V.C.) Memorial Wall. Name not inscribed on the Newcastle & Northern District Branch Meat Workers' Union Honour Roll. Attended Carrington Superior Public School but no Roll of Honour was unveiled here.

I have placed poppies at the family gravesite in remembrance of Fred’s service and supreme sacrifice for God, King & Country. ANGLICAN 1-36. 58.
