On 19 February 1918 Archibald married Elisa Violet ARNFIELD in Leeds, UK. In January 1920 Archibald and Elisa left Charters Towers for London. They did not return to Australia until 1953 after living in Nigeria and London where Archibald was a successful water borer. They settled in Broken Hill, NSW upon their return.  Archibald is buried in Charters Towers Cemetery.
