Biography contributed by Gary Rockliff

Cyril Rockliff was the younger brother of 1335 Sgt. Herbet Rockliff (/explore/people/337833). Herbert was killed in action on the 27th of July 1916.

My great uncle Cyril was fine young man with a promising career in the finance sector. It is by beleif that Cyril enlisted to defend his county but also to try and find his older brother Herbert, unfortunately for my great grand uncle Cyril that day never came. Although Cyril's time in the AIF was short he did accomplish a lot, going from Private to Second Corporal in the 3rd Infantry Battalion.

My father George and my uncle John, (Cyril's son's) were very proud of their father's actions to defend our country but also to risk his life to find his brother Herbert.
