Killed in action at Krithia 8 May 1915. His brother 636 Bugler Phillip Joseph Palmer enlisted 19 August 1914 in the same 8th Battalion AIF. Wounded in the right hand on 10 May 1915 and returned to Australia 4 August 1915 medically unfit.
