Robert Platt was born 26 November 1898 in Brisbane, QLD to Robert & Sarah Jane (Pickles). Robert is one of six children, 5 brothers and one sister. 

Platt served in the 52nd Battalion in the Australian Imperial Force at the age of 18 years and 6 months. He embarked on the Euripides, 31 October 1917 bound for Egypt. Platt was wounded in action, France, May 1918 with a severe gunshot wound in his right leg. A wound which resulted in a return to Australia 4 January 1919 and a medical discharge a year later from ankyosis - injuries relating to gun shot wounds in his right leg.

After his service in the AIF, Platt worked as a tramways inspector in his hometown of Brisbane, QLD; wedded Eileen Margaret O’Neill, 5 August 1924. O’Neill, a daughter of Irish immigrants, Michael and Mary Kate O’Neill. Together they had two children, Robert Francis & Audrey Eleanor. 

Robert Platt, passed away in 1966. Survived by his wife, children and grand children.
