Son of Ann Harrex of Liverpool Street, Hobart, Tasmania. Brother of Rowland Harrex of Becko, Central Otago, NZ.
In a letter to Base Records Rowalnd stated that Albert had been working in the mines at Cobar, NSW until he enlisted
12 December 1915 - commenced return to Australia (wound to the chest) on board HS Star of England but died en route
