Ernest Edgar CASBOURNE was born as Ernest Edgar CATCHPOLE in Burnie, Tasmania on 12th April, 1897

His parents were William CATCHPOLE & Nora Anne FITZMAURICE who married in Tasmania on 29th April, 1885

He enlisted in Claremont, Tasmania on 3rd February, 1916 & embarked from Hobart on the ship Berrima on 1st July, 1916 with the 40th Infantry Battalion (A Company)

Ernest was Killed in Action on 5th May, 1917 and is buried in the Strand Military Cemetery
