Victor Albert Joseph Bousquet was born 25 October 1888 in Glanville, South Australia. His parents were Mary Ann Bousquet and Albert Bousquet, who lived on Hart Street, Glanville. His primary education was at Glanville Primary School. According to attestation papers, his religious denomination was Presbyterian. Prior to his enlistment in the army, he worked as a Clerk for the South Australian Railways.

He was 25 years old and single at the time of his enlistment. He was 5′7″ and weighed about 132 lbs. He had a fresh complexion, grey eyes, and brown hair. His application was accepted, and his initial role was Private, as he had no previous military service.

On the 21st of September 1915, he embarked from Adelaide aboard the HMAT Star of England and joined the 27th Infantry Battalion. During late 1915 and early 1916, he served in Egypt with the 27th Infantry Battalion. He proceeded to France 16th March 1916. He was sent to hospital 29th July 1916 with sore feet and was discharged to base details 7th August 1916. He was treated for acute nephritis in September and was sent back to England 19th September 1916 where he was admitted to 3 Auxiliary Hospital. Bousquet was discharged 1st December 1916. 

He was appointed Corporal in January 1917 and established the No 1 Command Depot in Perham Downs. His rank reverted to Lance Corporal 13th December 1917. He remained at Perham Downs until 3rd January 1918 when he proceeded overseas to France and rejoined the 27th Battalion. In August 1918 he was detached to the 2nd Division Burial Party 28/8/18 - 10/9/18. He rejoined the 27th Battalion but not long after on 12th October 1918 he was detached to Australian Base Post Office in London.

He returned to Australia on board the ship Shropshire arriving back in Adelaide 13th May 1919. He was discharged 21st July 1919. After the war he continued to work for the South Australian Railways. 

He passed away in 1944  He is remembered on several memorials, including the Adelaide South Australian Railways WWI & WWII Honour Boards, the Outer Harbour Royal South Australian Yacht Squadron Roll of Honour, the Peterhead Glanville School Roll of Honour, and the Semaphore Port Adelaide Presbyterian Church Roll of Honour for WWI.
