Corporal G. L. GRINTER, son of Staff Sergeant-Major and Mrs. Grinter, Gilbert-street, Bowden, was killed in action on August 23. He enlisted on his 18th birthday, and left Australia with the 43rd Battalion. He spent over 12 months in the trenches, was mentioned twice in despatches, and was promoted to corporal for gallantry. He was sent home to England for a rest, and only returned to France a short time before his death. He attended Way Memorial Church, Bowden, and was assistant secretary of the Sunday-school. He was of a very cheerful disposition and had many friends.
