Wounded on 29 August 1915 at Hill 60 Gallipoli with bomb blast to his back and shoulder.  Reported as wounded again on 27 March 1917 but remained on duty with a gunshot wound to his shoulder.

Transferred to 3rd ANZAC Battalion, Imperial Camel Bridge on 11 November 1916 and after it was disbanded was posted to 15th Australian Light Horse Regiment.

Ben married Marjory Sarah Dean Moody on 14 May 1923 in Northam, Western Australia.  They had 3 children.

Living in Northam in March 1967, when applying for his ANZAC Memorial Medallion.
