Son of Walter Gard Usher and Mary Elizabeth Usher nee Kennerly of Erskineville Road, Erskineville, NSW.
On 3 December 1916 Claude married Edith May Arnold of 'Cressy Cottage', Malgrove Road, Surrey, England in Sutton, Surrey, England. Reverend Turner officiated.
