Son of Henry George and Fanny Clara Chute of 'Lyminge', Waratah Street, Katoomba, NSW formerly of 1 Grafton Street,  Woollahra, NSW. Brother of Claud Henry Chute who was killed in action on 26 September 1917 while serving with the 31st Battalion

Medals: 1914-15 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal

Prior to enlisted he was employed by Wunderlich Ltd Company of Sydney which specialised in metal work for shop fronts

Fellow soldiers described him as being 'awfully nice', 'light hearted' and had curly hair
