Awarded Military Medal
Recommendation states: 'This soldier is brought to notice for conspicuous gallantry, ability and devotion to duty in an attack on LE VERGUIER on the 18th September 1918. This soldier was a runner attached to Battalion headquarters and his duties consisted in keeping communication under bad weather conditions and under heavy fire, with advancing Infantry. His courage, resource and general demeanour under most trying conditions, was very marked, and his fine example an inspiration to his comrades.'
