Private Frank Thornton Rogers (Service No:1605) enlisted in the AIF on 4 July 1915 and embarked with 1st Reinforcements 31st Infantry Battalion from Melbourne on 5 November 1915 on board HMAT Bakara A41. Private Rogers was invalided from Boulogne, France to England on 21 July 1916 on board HS St David suffering Shell Shock. On 12 April 1917 Private Rogers embarked ex Plymouth on board HT Ulysses and was Discharged on 1 June 1917.
Born in 1899 in Melbourne Victoria, Frank was the second of three children of William Rogers (b1854 in Geelong, Victoria) and Agnes Fox (b1866 in Smythsdale, Victoria). William (a Carpenter) and Agnes married in 1885 in Brunswick, Melbourne where they settled and raised their family. William was a Carpenter and Inspector of Works.
Frank worked for Victoria Rail as a Fireman and in 1922 in Melbourne married Lillian Vera May Crook (b1891 in Melbourne, Victoria) - Lillian worked as a Waitress at her father's Federal Dining Rooms in Dandenong, and also as a Woolwork Finisher.
Frank and Lillian settled in Melbourne where Frank worked as a Fireman for Victoria Rail. He died in 1979 and Lillian in 1984.
