From the Braidwood Review and District Advocate, 5 March 1918:
This soldier, who is in the Snipers' Corps, is the youngest son of Mr. P. A. Madden, of Grenfell,
and brother of Mrs. J. J. Feehan,of the Courthouse Hotel, Braidwood. He is 23 years of age. He left Australia for France 18 months ago, and has had considerable experience in the trenches. So far he has escaped injury, except that on one occasion he suffered from an attack of what is known as trench feet. Latest reports from him were that he was well, and was leaving England again for France after spending his furlough there
