Son of Charles EDWARDS and Catherine nee THOMPSON
Mr. Walter Edwards, who died at Port Pirie on June 20, at the age of 42 years, was a well-known resident of the town. For the last 15 years he had been employed on the staff of The Areas express and associated papers at Gladstone, and prior to that he had been with the Port Pirie Standard and The Recorder. He was an enthusiastic cricketer and foot-baller, and particularly in the former branch of sport was he prominent with the Northern-Areas Cricket Association. The deceased was of a genial disposition and industrious and able. His work on the press had been principally that of a "stone hand" and machinist. Mr. Edwards was the eldest of six brothers who served in the war, and was absent for several years. One brother (Mr. Charles Edwards) made the supreme sacrifice. The deceased was the son of Mr. Charles Edwards, of the Harbours Board. He left a widow.
