Military Medal, Private Albert Edward KIRK 'For great bravery at DERNANCOURT South West of ALBERT on 5th April 1918. In the early stages of the action when communication with Battalion was temporarily broken, he carried despatches under heavy shell fire. Throughout the day he carried out his duties fearlessly, working under very heavy shell and machine gun fire. He exhibited great coolness under trying circumstances.' Lt-Col J.L. WHITHAM C.M.G. C.
